Raglan trapezoid inset piece

The red Raglan Blouse was made as such a narrow fit, that it came out with a slight issue in the armpit-area where the velvet would not allow the arm to be lifted any higher than the shoulder’s level, a difficult predicament for festive activities where movability is still prime, which is why I opted to rework the armpit, inserting a rounded trapezoid piece, now cut with the material’s stretch direction oriented along the length of the arm, forming a gradually expanding bridge that connects body and sleeve within the lower half of the raglan armhole.

Because every so often I notice readers who traverse the blog front to end, I used the past posting break to get my posts in order, doing some editing, rewriting and bringing more uniformization throughout the blog; which resulted in some changes being made to the various categories amongst which the embedding of the turorials into Revelation, the combination of technical sketches and patterns into the new Technics category and the renaming of Progress into the now more suiting Production, leaving the tags for deeper divergence.

Before CorrectionAfter Correction

Overseeing the corrections on the Marquis Coat in a second fitting session showed a noticeable crookedness throughout the upper torso area, caused by the sleeve, seemingly tilting the whole of the coat backwards; a mishap often encountered in confection, yet easily correctable by redividing the ease on the upperside of the sleeve’s head to slightly turn the orientation of the sleeve within the armhole, preparing the coat for sewing.

WGT 2012 Secondary Outfits

The mock-ups for the following series of secondary outfits show the continuation of the line’s characteristics in being waist-centered two-piece ensembles, new for the upcoming year, however, is the visibly sequential progression throughout the five days by snug fits making way for wider or lower hemlines, colors becoming brighter and manifesting in growing appearance-ratios, and naked skin slowly trying to unveil itself , just to become shaded by higher opacity materials, making the last outfit become a full circle negative of the first.

Studying another saved piece of my tailor’s legacy; this set of nineteen-forties textbooks containing detailed drawings and instructions on how to build classic and derivative male sewing patterns from measurements.
