After separately cutting the pieces for the Rider Vest they undergo a set of pre-production procedures, steaming any wrinkles out of the dense black velvet, carefully ironing the fold-lines into place, leaving the pieces ready for assemblage as soon as the pressed-on interfacing sets in.

  1. With this type of material, you only get one chance on ironing in the folds, which is best done with minimal interaction of the iron.

    Fortunately it is also ideally structured for making this kind of vest, glazing beautifully and only needing localised interfacing to reinforce shoulder and hemline(s).
