Furry Leg-ins

Cyber legwarmers conjoined with classically cut short-shorts.After having taken some first exploratory steps into cyber territory last year, I wish to continue in that direction through a more architectural aproach over this time, for instance by augmenting a pair of very short shorts with plush legwarmers that emerge from the waistband, hug the outer sides of the legs and widen out from the knees, offering surface for working in another set of (this time, upscaling) glow sticks, while leaving angular portions of naked skin visible to be shaded by nets or leggings.

Collar Interfacing

Flax-fiber collar interfacing, created in two full-bias layers, one a single piece, the other a patchwork of remnants.Never entirely satisfied with the result of the collar on the Cathedral Cape, I decided upon a different approach to the same design, redrawing the curve-lines and adding a central back-seam to better bring it to shape, making a new construction with parts from the old collar supplemented by bits of leftover satin fabric while taking the opportunity to insert a whole new interfacing, adding the rigidity to keep it from collapsing under the pressure of the chin, for which I found solace in a small stock of a rare flax-fiber interfacing, I cut once in full bias and a second time as a patchwork of pieces composed from the remainder of the first cut, looking to preserve as much as possible of this truly exceptional material.

Folding, Continued

Bracer PrototypeFolding Patterns
Testing prototypes and preparing patterns for the next venture within the Rider’s Gear project: a couplet of angular underarm bracers which’s design follows the established construction process of folding from-the-centre-diverging, interfaced layers, making good use of the the remainder of my dense black velvet.

Sexy Pants

The second secondary item going into production for the 2012 outfits is a pair of very short shorts, having deep pleats worked into the front- and narrow ones repeated into the backside, a, perhaps, unconventional adaption of classic design that aught to make the piece all the more compatible with a wide variety of styles.

Fierce Collar

The patterns defining capeline and collar for the Scarlet Cape, each exist out of five compartments circularly deviating from the neckline in frontwards growing intervals, that will be individually cut as incurvated pieces sewn together maintaining unity in velvet shine direction before being placed around a single piece of heavy-duty interfacing cut from the composite pattern with carved-out darts to uphold that tantalizing neck-curve.
