Most ubiquity I find the creative urge relenting to my original field of studies, materializing in incorporating its science into my designs. Seeking a greater level of functionality, whilst minding specific usability limitations, pursuing new methods of connecting structures and materials in order to express emotion in shapes by creating artistically endearing three dimensional objects that encompass us as we live providing protection against the elements; when it comes down to significance, both architecture and fashion are notions of the same endeavor, opposing primarily in encapsulation range and staticity.

Convening to a fascinatingly to such norms divergent conduct, striving to create architecture which imitates life reforming itself around us as we maneuver, and a fashion static and robust upholding a pertinent presence, – one of which ideally adaptable to the uncompromising environment of a certain festival – I contrived the following study incorporating one anachronous idealism of architecture: the Gothic window.

Exhibiting this cogitation, the following figures depict modifications on standard base patterns for an eight-panel skirt, a six-panel coat, and a four-panel cape, each epitomizing such window on overlap, with the cape, as the project’s magnus opus, exhibiting an even more tributal reoccurrence of this manifestation wherein any fabric, cut in godet, can back the window aperture.

Aristocrat Shirt

At this point in time, the white aristocrat shirt makes for the most intricate amongst my designs, envisioned during the previous working year as a rather elaborate method for pushing up my skills onto a higher level.

Thriving in elegant flow and organic shaping the concept maintains a strong duality of form repetition and linear direction composed around a solid tailored base; brought to width by small folds dropping from the shoulder pieces while thinned at the waist through sets of centre-oriented darts that emerge from the uppermost one of the two forwards leading hemlines, which themselves are caught within the shirt’s central box-placket; at high contrast to the voluptuous fully pleated, ribbon-bound, sleeves; long enough to overlap their own continuation into sturdy mid-arm cuffs, finished with flourishing sets of pleated ruffles.

The work is completed by two complementary collars, whose respective Italian and French points are to fall flawlessly onto the outermost folds of the vigorous dual-layered jabot, itself a fluid repetition of the design’s prevailing features, echoing the cuspated hemline shapes with the division of the forementioned bust-pleats.

The Gray Shirt Blouse

or rather a blouse..

Sometimes, the best sketch can come together with the littlest amount of lines.

I knew I wanted to do something like this, and last week I found the perfect fabric for it. The finest light gray – almost aluminum shade – silk; the only roll left of its kind. Splendid, for you see, due to the addition of elasthan fibre to the weft yarn, the fabric was stretchy like jersey. Observing that was when it struck me; the gray shirt should actually be a blouse.

While I allready had the idea of the narrow pointed cuffs and collar, this fabric would enable me to slim down the waist, without having to cut open the pattern in the front. Thus, creating a blouse that can be pulled over the head and which takes on an elegant form, with only a minimal number of seams. Emphasizing that effect, whilst keeping the delicate material from overstretching are the large curved darts, strengthening the garment in the sides, like skeleton-fingers wrapped around the waist.

I was rather surprised how quickly this sketch came together. The forementioned concept copied itself to the sleeves, creating that classical, yet modernistic look I so yearn to accomplish.
Now, let’s just hope it all works out..
