Presswork

Pressed folds

Having fixated the leap layers securely, they need to be carefully ironed into flat folds without the stitching pressing through.

Having to do this on the fabric’s right side there is little room for correction, which gives these Red Shirt sleeves another batch of bastework to be done on them.

Adding Interfacing

Iron-on interfacing applied to gain a certain roll.

Fitting

Basted Red Shirt FrontBasted Red Shirt Back

With its silk pieces assembled in baste, the Red Shirt construction is readily subjected to the test in order to check final adjustments to the fit, and when found faultless, the performed corrections are echoed onto the patterns so the process can move onwards to cutting corresponding pieces of lining, facing and interfacing.

Bastework

Red Riddle

Red Riddle

I am made by hand, brought to amass,
from a velvet nature adorned in brass,
for standing tall reaching to surpass,
here layn down devoid of class..

..but what am I?
